Make Battery Cages History

Honestly I was quiet surprised to hear that the last battery hen has been freed from her cage in the UK recently and also that all battery cages are banned in the European Union! This is great news and a huge step forward! I was equally surprised and disappointed to hear that my own country still has 12 million hens living in battery cages and our government is not doing anything about it! Come on Australia make the right choices, these little guys deserve some form of freedom in their little chicken lives! Chickens have so many positive affects and benefits on properties (see my post on the Permaculture Chicken) and a free roaming chicken is a happy chicken! Source: animalsaustralia.org |
