The Price of Food
|
The following pictures show the quality and price of food in different countries of the weekly shop for the family. The price is sown is USD. Its interesting to see that the more dollars spent the more junk food people eat. Doesn’t make sense really? Paying more money for less quality? I found this veeeery interesting after coming back from Zaytuna Farm NSW where 95% of the food we ate came right out of the ground, off the trees & plants and from the animals. In the time we where there approximately 3,150 meals where consumed. (40 people x 14 days x 5 meals a day being breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner) and let it be known that we never went hungry or without variety. The cost to the farm was very little, maybe a little bit here and there for unavailable items and the time it takes to pick the veggies, milk the cows, collect the eggs, plant the trees, sow the seeds etc. No matter what space you have there is always room to grow something. Start small and see where it takes you. There is really no need to pay this much for food especially when we don’t know where it comes from, how its been grown, or treated. As Geoff said “Grow your own food or know the farmer who did” For more on prices of food click here The images appeared in the book Hungry Planet: What the World Eats by Peter Menzel and Faith D’Aluisio Source: www.sobadsogood.com |
